Red Ant Agri specialises in European-style open and close netting systems, ideally suited to crops where bee pollination is essential. Nets are opened shortly after pollination and remain deployed throughout the growing season, before being bunched above the trees once harvesting is complete.
Our woven nets are available in a range of colours and shading factors to suit different crop requirements. They are particularly well suited to open and close structures, where the movement of the netting is an important part of the system. As these systems require additional netting to allow for movement, approximately 12% more netting is installed than the total covered area.
Like any agricultural infrastructure, netting systems require ongoing maintenance. During the first few years, maintenance is generally focused on the structure, including regular inspection of poles for mechanical damage, deterioration and rot. Over the lifespan of an orchard, the netting itself will typically need to be replaced at least once. For an orchard with an expected lifespan of 20 years or more, replacement costs are generally around 30–40% of the initial installation cost.
